Joseph Haydn, known as the "Father of the Symphony" and the "String Quartet," was born on March 31, 1732, in Rohrau, Austria. He emerged as one of the leading composers of the Classical period and had a significant influence on Western music. Haydn began his musical career in Vienna, where he worked as a chapel musician. In 1761, he became the composer and conductor of the orchestra for the Esterházy princes, a position he held for nearly thirty years. During this time, he had the opportunity to experiment and innovate musically, producing over 100 symphonies and numerous chamber works. Haydn was instrumental in developing sonata form and structuring new musical genres. His most well-known works include the Paris Symphonies and the oratorios The Creation and The Seasons. He also played an important role in artistic exchange with contemporaries like Mozart and Beethoven, influencing and being influenced by them. After the death of Prince Esterházy in 1790, Haydn gained the freedom to travel and present his works in major musical centers like London, where he achieved international fame. He was honored with an honorary doctorate from Oxford. Haydn passed away on May 31, 1809, during the Napoleonic occupation of Vienna, and was buried with honors. Haydn's work continues to be celebrated for its originality and lasting impact on classical music. Thank you for watching Sonatta Classical! #haydn #violin #piano #classicalmusic
