For years, pro cyclists and amateur racers alike have been slamming their stems in an effort to be as aerodynamic as possible. A low front end is faster… or is it? Modern thinking suggests having a higher stack could make a cyclist faster by enabling them to hold a more aerodynamic position for their body. In this video, Ollie Smith tests the theory with an adjustable stem to see if a higher front end on his race bike could be faster. He also talks to the mastermind behind the radical Morpheus Reppit aero bike, and pioneer in the study of stack height in relation to speed – Arne Peters – to find out more.
