The California Wildflower Super Bloom in Lancaster is a beautiful natural event that happens when many wildflowers bloom at the same time. After a winter with a lot of rain, the desert around Lancaster becomes covered with colorful flowers. Hills and fields turn bright with orange, yellow, purple, and pink flowers. One of the most famous places to see this is the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve where millions of California poppy flowers and many other flowers, like desert gold and more, bloom across the landscape. The super bloom usually happens in the spring, from March to April. During this time, many people visit Lancaster to walk the trails, take photos, and enjoy the amazing view of flowers covering the desert. We went to Antelope Valley yesterday, March 8, and this is how the flowers looked. It wasn’t that many, maybe we came too late. There are much better places to see the super bloom, like Carrizo Plain National Monument, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, and I heard one of the most famous superblooms in the world is in Death Valley National Park. It does not happen every year. A super bloom only occurs when weather conditions are just right, especially when there is enough rain during the winter. In simple words, the super bloom is a rare and beautiful time when the desert near Lancaster and many more places in California turn into colorful fields of wildflowers. If you like wild flowers or haven't seen any superbloom anywhere, you can like, subscribe, or comment.
