Using epoxy mortar to create a slope can be done a few ways. The primary objective is to direct water or other liquids to a specific drain or catch basin. Whichever method produces the desired result, therefore, is a useful one. What’s left to decide about the installation method is which way is most efficient and produces a consistent pitch. Working with materials that achieve a compressive strength of over 12,000psi are expensive to remove and start over. The video documents the placement of epoxy mortar to create a uniform slope. The process starts with attaching string at a predetermined height and the opposite end near or at the slope’s end. Regardless of the method chosen to establish slope, a prime with 100% solids epoxy is required. Epoxy mortar is a semi-dry mix. A non-primed surface will pull the resin from the mortar and adhesion will be weak. Once primed, the epoxy mortar is applied under the string (while the primer is wet). Then it’s compressed to compact the sand and epoxy. Once the rails are placed, formed, and compressed, the mixture is left to cure. Next is the placement of the slope. This is basically the same process as the rails, but the forming and compaction can be done like a screed. Once troweled smooth, the. mixture is left to cure. After enough time to harden, the surface can be prepared as needed for whatever coating is specified to cover it. 🇺🇸💪🏼🇺🇸💪🏼🇺🇸 #SURFACEPREPARATION #EPOXYCOATINGS
