Lake Sebu in South Cotabato is one of those magical places that every traveler must visit. Located 780 meters above sea level within the Allah Valley Protected Landscape in South Cotabato, it is a serene place nestled in a bowl of mountains and forests. Known for its three scenic lakes—Lake Sebu, Lake Seloton, and Lake Lahit—the municipality is a major ecotourism destination. It features lush forests, diverse flora and fauna, and breathtaking waterfalls, including the famed Seven Falls. Beyond its natural beauty, Lake Sebu is a center of indigenous artistry, from T'nalak weaving to vibrant cultural traditions, making it a unique convergence of biodiversity and heritage in Mindanao. After travelling from Manila to Davao for two days by bus, and one day more by a combination of buses and van, I finally reached Lake Sebu to explore its natural and cultural attractions. For Part I of my Lake Sebu experience, I rented a motorcycle with driver to explore its natural wonders. First stop is Punta Isla Resort for the Lotus Garden boat tour on the lake, followed by a trek to two of the seven waterfalls. Last stop is the hidden waterfalls of Trankini, a thirty-minute motorcycle ride and another thirty-minute trek to reach this refreshingly clear body of water. #lakesebu #southcotabato
