Since this is a widespread issue, Samsung must fix the issue free for people with this problem. The machine costs around $1500, and to fix the problem costs around $500. Doesn't make sense. I started a petition to call Samsung to step up and fix this defective machine free, which is many other users have the same problem. Here is the link. http://chng.it/RZBDtSwG small piece is the upper‑washer door latch tab — the plastic hook‑shaped actuator on the inner door that presses against the spring‑loaded pin (the door‑switch sensor) on the washer body to tell the machine the door is locked. It’s the #1 failure point on Samsung FlexWash upper washers, and Samsung does not sell it separately — it is molded into the inner door assembly. 🔍 What the Part Is Called Upper Washer Inner Door Latch Tab / Door Lock Actuator A small plastic hook/tab on the inner door When you close the upper washer, this tab pushes the metal pin on the frame That pin activates the door‑closed sensor If the tab breaks, the washer thinks the door is open → gives a door‑lock error 🧩 Why It’s Confusing Samsung’s parts list never names the tab separately. Instead, it is included inside the full part: Inner Door Assembly – Part DC97‑20029B This is the part you must replace if the tab is broken. 🛠️ Common Symptoms When This Tab Breaks Upper washer won’t start “Door not locked” or similar error You can see the pin on the washer body, but nothing presses it The tab looks cracked or missing entirely How That Small Latch Tab “Disappears” That little plastic actuator tab is not screwed in and not reinforced. It’s molded as part of the inner door frame. Because of that, it tends to: 1. Snap Off Cleanly The tab usually breaks flush with the door edge. When it snaps: It’s tiny It’s lightweight It falls straight into the washer drum or onto the floor Most people never see it again. 2. Get Washed Away If it breaks while the washer is running: It drops into the upper drum The water flow pushes it toward the drain area It gets caught in the drain filter or flushed out during a cycle So it literally disappears. 3. Fall on the Floor and Get Vacuumed or Swept It’s a small, dark plastic piece. If it falls when you close the door: It hits the floor Rolls under the washer Gets swept or vacuumed Gone forever 4. Break Into Multiple Pieces Sometimes the tab doesn’t break in one clean chunk. It fractures into: A tiny sliver A thin shard A small curved piece These are almost impossible to notice. 🧠 Why It Happens So Easily The latch tab is: Thin Under tension every time you close the door Made from brittle plastic Not reinforced After hundreds of cycles, it weakens and snaps. Samsung really should’ve designed it stronger, but here we are. 🎯 Bottom Line The part doesn’t “go missing” mysteriously — it breaks off cleanly, falls into the drum or onto the floor, and gets washed away or swept up. That’s why Samsung only sells the entire inner door assembly (DC97‑20029B). The latch tab is not replaceable by itself. that tiny latch tab is not sold by itself anywhere. And I’m saying that confidently because every FlexWash owner who breaks that piece goes looking for it, and Samsung never made it a separate SKU. 🔧 Can you buy ONLY the latch tab? ❌ No. It does not exist as a standalone part. Samsung molded that latch tab directly into the inner door frame, so: It’s not removable It’s not replaceable It’s not listed in any parts diagram No third‑party manufacturer makes it No 3D‑printed version exists that actually fits and works reliably This is why every repair shop replaces the entire inner door assembly (DC97‑20029B) when that tab breaks. 🧠 Why Samsung doesn’t sell it separately Because the tab is part of the structural plastic molding. If they sold it separately, you’d have to: Cut the old frame Glue or weld the new tab Hope it aligns perfectly with the door‑switch pin That would cause more failures and liability, so they never offered it.
