We’ll look at a specific case of an adult female patient with two impacted maxillary canines. In adults, this kind of orthodontic treatment is usually very challenging, and often such teeth cannot be moved successfully. To evaluate the initial situation, we take a special 3D X-ray called a CBCT scan. This helps us see the exact position of the teeth and plan the treatment approach in detail. By placing braces, we carefully create space for the impacted tooth. In some cases, a minor surgical procedure is needed to expose the tooth and help guide it away from neighboring teeth, preventing any damage to the surrounding structures. After that, the baby canines are usually extracted, allowing the permanent canines to be moved into their correct position. Over time, the impacted tooth gradually moves into place—like a puzzle piece finally fitting where it belongs. Once the treatment is complete, we use retention appliances—either fixed or removable—to help keep the teeth in their new, proper positions. Hello, dear colleagues!
