Back on HS2 after a little enforced break but it was heartwarming today to see evidence that is… loads of tunnel ring segments lined up at the nearby Atlas Road logistics site…i assume they’re for the tunnelling to Euston, due to start next year, rather than the leftovers of the Northolt tunnelling which completed some months ago. I took some footage and will upload later. Exactly 3 months to the day and another visit to west London. Progress continues on the new high speed station under construction, .. as well as other structures rising up from the ground. Still a building site.... but much more clearer lines emerging...and some type of box structure is shaping up adjacent to Old Oak Common Lane, sited above the future railway tracks...certainly building up to the level of the adjacent road. There is a massive 800m underground box where the six underground platforms are currently being built, it would be nice to see more of the platforms under construction from HS2 Ltd. The site under construction will be the future temporary London high speed terminus, Old Oak Common station. Over the course of seveal years of blockades (to 2030), mainly during the festive period, the gwr tracks will be slewed across into the new platforms of Old Oak Common station. Six platforms currently under construction above ground (eight above ground to be built in total plus six platforms below serving high speed trains). Utility diversion works are currently taking place in the Swiss cottage area and also still at Euston in advance preparation of the tunneling eastwards to Euston, works that are due to commence in 2026. HS2 is the UK's newest high speed railway linking London Euston to Birmingham (140 miles) and the north. High speed trains are due to cross through here in the mid 2030's-ish.
