In Wayanad, Kerala, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor reacted to reports that the BCCI asked Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman. Tharoor said sports should be kept separate from politics and should not suffer because of political problems. He said India is already engaging with Bangladesh in many ways, including diplomatic talks. He also mentioned that India has raised concerns about recent attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and urged the authorities there to maintain law and order. Tharoor called the decision to involve cricket at such a sensitive time unfortunate and unwise.
