When he was just 15, tap dancer Savion Glover appeared alongside tap legend Gregory Hines on PBS in the @greatperformances special “Tap Dance in America "(1989). Gregory Hines and other master tap dancers on the show like Jimmy Slyde inspired Savion Glover to put his own distinguishing mark on tap dance. Glover went on to establish himself as one of the best tap dancers of all time, performing in and choreographing tap performances for films and stage, including Broadway hits "The Tap Dance Kid" and "Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk." Glover looks back on his experience working closely with Hines, the opportunity to participate in the one-of-a-kind PBS television special on tap dance – a uniquely American art form – and his journey in the tap world. Archival footage is from "Great Performances: Tap Dance in America."
