A passenger injured while confronting a knifeman who was rampaging through a train has spoken of the terror he experienced on board. Stephen Crean, whose left hand was stabbed and now requires plastic surgery, said it was “him against me” when he came face to face with the attacker on the train shortly after it left Peterborough on Saturday evening. The eleven victims were named on Monday when Anthony Williams, 32, appeared in court charged with multiple counts of attempted murder. Crean, 61, was returning home from watching his team Nottingham Forest draw 2-2 with Manchester United, when a young woman ran through his train carriage shouting “knife, knife”. He let other passengers escape first before he came face to face with the attacker armed with only his fists. Crean said the only thing he was thinking was “I’ve got to try and get him”. “A few people ran past me, I let them go and then I went to go,” he told The Times. “We got to the buffet bar but I hear the people in there struggling to get in.
