Shortline Railfanning: Heart of Georgia Railroad Freights and Intermodal

The Heart of Georgia Railroad (HOG) is a shoreline that runs from Mahrt, Alabama to Midville, Georgia. Manifest, intermodal, and passenger runs make up the HOG's traffic list. The railroad hosts a variety of older EMD locomotives, and several are seen in this video. On Friday, March 10, we witness various moves of the Cordele East Yard Switcher, sporting a GP30M and GP40. They cross the diamonds in Cordele in the morning, head west engines light after switching, are seen back around Cordele switching more, and then head back east to the yard in Cordele in the late afternoon. On Saturday, March 11, we chase the Vidalia Turn east for quite a few miles, including passing through Rochelle, GA. The intermodal train had the former Canadian National GP40-2 leading one of the HOG blue and yellow GP40's. Seeing the train cruise along over jointed rail was quite an awesome sight!
