Superformance Cobra - Converting from Carb to Borla Stack Injection Multi Point EFI We got this beautiful Superformance Cobra in the shop that came to us from American Powertrain with another companies engine and was undrivable. The engine ran so poorly that we even started with a compression test and leakage test to confirm the engine did not have internal damage. The customer converted the car from carb to multi-port injection and it never ran well after that change. Multiple circuits were at fault including the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and MAP sensor and there were also several connection issues. These problems caused the ECU to command incorrect fuel mixture and timing control causing an excessively rich condition that fouled the spark plugs as well as the Oxygen Sensor. After correcting the wiring harness issue and replacing the faulty sensors we started the engine and completed a series of drive and tune sessions. The throttle bodies had to be synchronized and the engine had to be serviced with fresh oil and filter due to the previous rich condition that had diluted the oil.
