A 'historic' visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been marked by Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs Smriti Zubin Irani and Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri V Muraleedharan visited the city of Madinah. While writing about her visit Irani has applauded the step as underscoring the depth of cultural and spiritual engagement between the two nations. She said 'Undertook a historic journey to Madinah today, one of Islam's holiest cities included a visit to the periphery of the revered Prophet's mosque, Al Masjid Al Nabwi, the mountain of Uhud and the periphery of the Quba Mosque which is the first mosque of Islam.
