Spanish is a Loving Tongue

An old cowboy song, Spanish is a Loving Tongue, comes from a poem by Charles Badger Clarke, called 'A Border Affair'. Many people have recorded this song, including Bob Dylan quite early in his career. I love the story. For some reason it always reminds of old John Wayne movies, that also had that wonderful Mexican actress, Katy Jurado in a supporting role. At the end of those movies, the Duke would ride off into the sunset with the blonde ingenue, instead of Katy. He was a damn fool, if you ask me. I'm playing this on my beautiful old Martin D35S, and recorded with a single Rode NT1A mic, suspended just out of eyesight. By the way, if you think the clip actually shows me sitting out by a raging campfire.....I have a bridge I'd like to sell you!!!
