In this video, we explore a different approach to motor efficiency mapping using a propeller test stand and a wind tunnel instead of a traditional brake dynamometer. By testing a range of propellers with controlled airflow from a WindShaper wind tunnel, we simulate different aerodynamic loading conditions and build a detailed motor performance map. Along the way we encounter an unexpected result, negative thrust, which turns out to reveal something interesting about propeller aerodynamics and windmilling behavior.
