The University of Miami Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing held the second annual IDSC Day on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Lakeside Village Expo Center on the Coral Gables campus. Demos, posters, and presentations showcased the impact IDSC has made on the University, the South Florida community, and beyond. This exciting event convened faculty, staff, students, and industry partners to showcase their leading-edge scientific and computational projects that extracted hidden knowledge and generated fresh insights from large and complex datasets. The opening keynote speaker was Dr. Paul Pavlou, Dean of the University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School and the Leonard M. Miller University Chair Professor. The closing keynote speaker was Dr. Eduardo "Eddy" Vadia graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 2006. He completed his Internal Residency Residency, Chief Medical Residency, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Vadia was tenured as a faculty physician at UT Southwestern through April 2019, where he focused his efforts on medical education in the Parkland Hospital ICU. He is currently boarded in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. During his fellowship, Dr Vadia co-founded Access Physicians, a multi-specialty telemedicine physician group focused on "scaling clinical excellence" in its effort to deliver care to high-acuity, high-complexity patients in the inpatient setting. Dr. Vadia grew the company from inception to the second-largest inpatient telemedicine group in the country. Access Physicians had over 200 hospital deployments across 30 states, managed over 600 physicians, and secured enterprise agreements with many of the largest health and hospital systems in the country. Access Physicians was acquired in March, 2021 by SOC Telemed.
