The Majesty of UK Steam locomotives - A 2013 compilation

Its that time of year again and to look back at all the footage that has been accrued during the past year, and to compile a video of all the best bits from mainline railtours, loco movements and preserved railways across the UK. Its very painstaking work but very enjoyable at the same time. There are a number of unseen videos which have not been aired on Youtube by myself. The clips you see on this video are not in chronological order. I decided to change them around a bit. What a year it has been? So many great railtours such as the recreation of the 1T57 Fifteen Guinea special. I captured BR Standard Britannia class 70013 Oliver Cromwell on the Settle to Carlisle line blasting over Lunds viaduct. That has to be a major highlight on this video. The southbound run from Carlisle wasn't too bad either involving two Black fives, capturing them at Aisgill. There has been a number of great Vintage trains railtours this year involving 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe. Two particular highlights was the double header along with 46233 Duchess of Sutherland which took in a north and south run up Shap. Also the Earls stunning performance over Sapperton bank. Tyseley also treated us with Pannier tanks on the mainline in December. There's certainly a large selection of varied locomotives with no fewer then 30 in action, on preserved railways and on the mainline. The Gloucestershire and Warwickshire railways Cotswolds steam festival. The railways first major event since the line was fully reopened after the dreadful landslides they suffered. There was also the 1968 end of steam festival at the East Lancashire railway, where they had another recreation of the 1T57 Fifteen guinea special. The Severn Valley railway's and Mid Hants railway steam galas are also included and are events that are definitely worth visiting and this year was no exception with some superb guest locomotives appearing in both galas. Lets hope for more of the same in 2014, where we should see more steam locomotives returning to action either on the mainline or on preserved railways, and the current crop of steam locomotives doing what they do best.
