Innesti | Generative Ethereal Ambient | Eurorack Modular Synthesizer | 01 This is the first video in a new series that will focus on generative modular ambient. Although there is no shortage of ambient modular videos on YouTube, I wanted to focus on a specific kind of ambient that seems fairly rare in the modular world: Drifting, ethereal, slow-moving soundscapes. In these videos I'll be using my Eurorack modular system to create meditative patches that breathe and float. I am especially interested in generative processes, allowing the modular system to "play itself" and create slowly evolving textures that have no beginning or end. My (non-modular) ambient albums can be found here: Bandcamp: https://innesti.bandcamp.com/ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6vjQz... Patch Notes: Qu-bit Chord v2 is the exclusive voice. It is set to Free Poly Mode (Bank 2:00, Wave: 10:00). The V/Oct of the root, 3rd, and 5th notes are being generated randomly by Marbles. The mix out from Chord is going into QPAS for some subtle low-pass frequency modulation from Pamela's New Workout. The output of QPAS is going into Arbhar. The Arbhar is recording, at random intervals, the signal from QPAS and creating an audio layer that is gradually building upon and overwriting over itself (Dub set to 12:00). Arbhar's scan head is being modulated by a slow LFO from Ochd across the dynamic composite layer. Grains are being triggered at a moderately random rate (Intensity set to 2:00) with a mild amount of spray across the layer (Spray set to 10:00) and a small probability of reversed grains (about 15%). A slow LFO from Ochd is modulating between a full wet (100% playback of the Arbhar dynamic layer) and dry (100% live from the Chord to QPAS) mix. The dual audio outputs of Arbhar are going to two VCAs where Tides is modulating the levels of the two channels in a slow tidal fashion (i.e., as one rises, the other recedes). The outputs of the VCA are going into the FX Aid XL for reverb. That output is routed to my mixer (4ms Listen Four Quarters) and then out to a Tascam DR-05 digital recorder which is capturing the performance live. The audio in this video is from the live session, lightly compressed in post, fades added, and mixed with field recordings from the filming location.
