I've had my Merida eOne Sixty 8000 for four years, and it's time for an upgrade. I'm doing an honest, long-term review to help you decide if an e-bike is right for you. In this video, I answer the most common questions from riders. If you're thinking about buying an e-bike, or just curious about what it's like to live with one long-term, this video is for you. For those living in Logan City, I highly recommend @99bikesbrownsplains64 for your Local Bike Store needs. They'll help you out with new bike inquiries, or bike repairs and servicing. The team there is exceptional!! A few points I did not clearly articulate (this speaking to the camera stuff does not come naturally for me and so I often am not clear enough or screw up some terms, sorry): 1. When talking about the motor, the correct term is Watts, not Watt-hours. 2. When I say the rear wheel replacement was $500, I mean only the rim, spokes and freehub.... not including the tyre, brake disc nor gear cassette. 3. ST Unlocker, and any derestricting software or hardware, should be used at your own risk. Research carefully before deciding which method to use. 4. I usually am a very law-abiding citizen, but not when it comes to stupid bike laws. The "legal vs. illegal" debate does not work, and we are being saturated with more and more high-powered ebikes on our streets and bikeways. The solution is not to punish but rather, we need a better and more relevant approach that focuses on education. For example, a comprehensive public campaign about safe riding practices, the dangers of high speeds on shared paths, and the importance of being considerate of other path users. (and if you've read this far, geez I actually am flabbergasted, give yourself an uppercut, LOL). 5. Always do your homework before deciding on any e-bike, watch loads of reviews and, if possible, go and physically check out the bike or ride it before purchasing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY GEAR IN THIS VIDEO: 2020 Merida E160 8000 EMTB: https://shorturl.at/kT8ne 2025 version: https://shorturl.at/sdP2m Yakima Hangover 4 E-bike Carrier: https://www.yakima.com.au/hangover-4 Yakima HoldUp 2 E-Bike Carrier: https://www.yakima.com.au/holdup Garmin Varia RTL Radar: https://amzn.to/3DmfXgL Gaciron Kiwi 400 Bike Light: • Gaciron Kiwi 400 Review: The BEST Budget 4...
