In the summer of 2018, Blacks on Wall Street, Inc. and the Eisele Research Group started their partnership. Both parties, together with The City College of New York (CCNY) and CCNY’s The City Tutors, are driven by their desire for educational outreach, holistic mentorship, and enhancing exposure of high-school students from minority communities to STEM. Blacks on Wall Street, Inc. is a non-profit organization with the mission to close the professional opportunity gap by providing underrepresented youth with the resources to achieve promising careers. Blacks on Wall Street, Inc. was excited about the opportunity to organize and chair their first STEM event and to expose students to the possibilities within the diverse fields of STEM. The Eisele Research Group is passionate about educational outreach to promote science beyond academia. Their research focuses on the fundamental science of light-matter interactions in self-assembled nanostructures. Their materials research laboratory and their spectroscopy/nanoscopy laboratory are located at CCNY’s Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI). CCNY’s The City Tutors is a community tutoring organization with a dual mission: to get more community members involved in supporting academically vulnerable populations and under resourced programs across NYC, and to provide community members with experiences and mentorship to grow professionally as they serve their community.
