FILLMORE EAST. THE REUNION. In 1968 a theater opened in NYC called the Fillmore East on Second Avenue and Sixth Street. It was started by the late Bill Graham, a promoter, who is now in the rock and roll hall of fame as one of the most important promoters in the music business. The Fillmore theater became a NYC icon as the best place to hear and see Rock & Roll music in the city. It also played many other types of music concert events a hosted many other types of special events. It was open for a little over 3 years. Bill closed the successful Fillmore's basically because of musical groups wanting more money to play live concerts as the live concert scene exploded throughout US and the world. The Fillmore's became too small of a venue to hold profitable concerts. This year is the forty year anniversary of it's closing and there has been talk of a reunion by all those who contributed to it's success. Now, we have expanded it further to possibly put on a concert somewhere in New York City and of it being filmed into a documentary that would show that the Fillmore theater was not only an innovative and iconic place during the late sixties and early seventies in New York City but it was part of a cultural revolution that effected many lives especially of those who worked tirelessly towards its success. While in the early stages of development, the person mentioned to film the event is a documentary film producer named William Eigen who has been interested in filming a story about the Fillmore East & West (SF) for many years.
