Following our 'On The Air' test on this radio after it's service work, Mr Chippie reported the radio sounded quiet; a fault reported by the customer that I thought would be cleared by resetting the deviation from the ridiculous 8Khz back to 2.2Khz with a peak at 2.5Khz. It seemend the snag was mike gain. taking apart the microphone revealed a 2nd microphone insert. I've never seen anything as bizarre. The microphone supplied is an electet type which is powered. Adding a 200ohm dynamic element nearly shorts out the power to the electet and created intermodulation between the two. Removal of the second insert effected a complete cure & the deviation was once again reset inside the radio to a lower level. Recorded 7th November 2022 Richard, G0OJF Lincolnshire, UK
