Rabbi Meir, the miracle maker. Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes (the miracle maker) was a Jewish sage who lived in The Holy Land during the 2nd century A.D, the time of the Mishnah (written collection of the Jewish oral traditions). His father was a descendant of the Roman Emperor Nero who had converted to Judaism. The Rabbi has been associated with many miraculous deeds, starting with the time when he saved his sister-in-law from a brothel (where the Romans held her captive). He passed away in Assos (today's Turkey), while in exile outside of the Holy Land. His remains were brought back for burial in Tiberius and he was buried on the shores of Lake Kinneret alongside two of his students. The grave of Rabbi Meir is one of the holiest sites in the Jewish world and thousands of people from all over the world come here to pray. The Rabbi said he would help those that gave to the poor and his legacy to all generations is that he will personally intercede in Heaven to prayers of people in crisis who recite the words “God of Meir, answer me”. Countless stories are told of people who during personal troubles, experienced miraculous help when they gave charity in memory of the Rabbi.
