(11 Aug 2017) Tibetan exiles protested in New Delhi on Friday, giving their support to India in the ongoing border standoff with China. Carrying Indian and Tibetan flags, members of the Tibetan Youth Congress chanted anti-China slogans and demanded China leave Tibet. Indian troops entered the area in the Doklam Plateau in June after New Delhi's ally, Bhutan, complained a Chinese military construction party was building a road inside Bhutan's territory. Beijing says Doklam is located in Tibet and that the border dispute between China and Bhutan has nothing to do with India. It has demanded that Indian troops withdraw before any talks. China claims Tibet has always been Chinese territory, but most Tibetans say the Himalayan region was independent for centuries until Chinese troops invaded in the 1950s.
