We used H&R Block for the first time this past year. Back in early June we got a notice from the IRS that there was an issue with our taxes so, I scanned the document and emailed the H&R Block office on Gardner Rd in Charleston, SC alerting them of the error on the return that they prepared and requested an appointment to help rectify the situation. No response. Emailed again. Nada. Called - left voicemail. No response. Called again and called again, leaving messages asking for an appointment. No response. After six weeks of being ignored, Eric stopped into the office; they set an appointment for the following week. So, we show up at the Charleston, SC office for our appointment, walk in and no one is there. THE OFFICE IS ENTIRELY EMPTY. We take a seat and expect our tax advisor to walk in any second saying he ran to the candy machine, mail room or some such. But, after an hour we are still the only people the empty office. We call and no one at H&R customer service can help so we leave - unable to lock the door behind us. We did not receive any sort of email, text or voicemail apologizing for canceling our appointment at the last minute then asking to us reschedule... The next morning we show up and again expecting apologies and the attention we needed. Instead, we find the office is locked and wide open with NOT A SOUT THERE. Except, there was a note from another customer who had an appointment after ours that also found an unlocked, empty office yesterday. So, a day after finding an unlocked, empty office, what did we find" The front door is still unlocked. All the offices are unlocked. It certainly appears that no one showed up the day before, gathered the notes neglected customers left and locked up. Customer's confidential documents with their SS#, banking and other financial data sitting out in the open for anyone to help themselves to. After waiting another hour this second day and calling H&R's customer service number, no one was able to reach any employee in the Charleston branch. There was nothing they could do... So, we took this quick video and left, leaving the office unlocked and completely vulnerable.
