In this video: Cross-country flight with flight through the CTR Frankfurt-Hahn EDFH and Cologne/Bonn EDDK. I don't know why yet, but radio communications in control zones is a nasty hurdle for most beginners, including me. When planning flights, for some it is better to choose a route around such an area than to plan the shortest route through the control zone from reporting point to reporting point. In order to change that, I have set myself the task of flying from Mainz to Frankfurt-Hahn EDFH and crossing the control zone from ECHO (54:48) to NOVEMBER. Then flying north along the beautiful Mosel valley and then repeated the same thing in the Cologne/Bonn EDDK control zone from SIERRA1 (1:36:35) to NOVEMBER1. I had successfully passed the BZF-I exam, so everything should be in English. Someone once said that you must get out of your comfort zone in order to be able to grow with new challenges. It was definitely worth it for me, because everything was really uncomplicated and the air traffic controllers were nice and competent. I'll definitely be less excited next time. Of course I made some rookie mistakes: Shortened callsign not used Call sign sometimes omitted "Yes", instead of "affirmative" “Repeat” instead of "Say Again" Dozens of unnecessary "Uh"
