Today we’ll discuss Dubai. What is Dubai today, and where is it heading? Is it a good place to base yourself in? Should you consider Dubai for investing, company formation, etc? Let’s see! Dubai has come a long way! If you look just 30 years back, it wasn’t even a shadow of what is it today. Area where the tallest building in the world is - Burj Khalifa, was just a military base. Sheikh Zayed Road was just a dirt road, with nothing going on anywhere near. There was just old town area (that you can still visit today, even though it’s not really popular among tourists) and outside of it was just the desert. Miles and miles of desert. When I moved here and started looking for property, and talking to realtors I realized that many buildings, even in super nice areas are quite poor quality. Why is that? I think the answer is quite simple - when they were first building everything from scratch they just had to get it done and going. At the time they couldn’t pitch Dubai as a luxurious beach destination, when it wasn’t comparable to many other famous places. They had to build their way up from the bottom. At the beginning they had to optimize for costs, which usually means lower quality. Later on when things took off they built iconic landmarks, they’ve introduced Emirates airlines, which is now one of the best airlines in the world, and they’ve set the standards for the industry. Especially for business class and first class flights - flying in luxury just got elevated to another level! At the same time Dubai started offering a variety of international 5 star hotels, and well as one of the landmarks in the city - Burj Al Arab the only 7 star hotel in the world. One thing lead to another and all of the sudden there was a variety of fancy restaurant, clubs, boutiques, experiences, etc. At the moment Dubai offers everything that you can imagine. It offers more conveniences than most cities in the world. So what is trajectory for Dubai? I’m quite positive on it. We believe that Dubai is going to keep getting better, bigger and more modern. If I look at he places in the world that are drastically improving I’d have to put UAE on the list. Who are we and what do we do? We are Offshore Citizen team.
