When our ship arrived in Port of Spain, Trinidad, we headed out for a simple self guided walking tour like we’ve done in dozens of cities around the world. But once we reached the city almost immediately, something about the atmosphere felt different — not dramatic, just noticeably “off.” At the time, we couldn’t explain why. It wasn’t until we got back on the ship and finally checked the U.S. Department of State’s travel information that we saw Port of Spain is listed as a Level 3 advisory destination. Suddenly, our instincts from earlier in the day made a lot more sense. In this video, we share our real experience walking the streets, what felt unusual, what stood out, and how cruise passengers can stay aware and informed.
