Three students from Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) are set to face court today after being arrested for their alleged involvement in the violent assault on a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School. The incident, which occurred during a district inter-schools athletics competition in Agona Swedru, was captured in a viral video that sparked nationwide outrage and calls for justice. The Suspects: Joseph Amoh (20 years) Benedict Appiah (18 years) Bilal Mamud (18 years) All three are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment. How It Happened The assault reportedly occurred on Thursday, February 19, 2026, during a zonal inter-school athletics competition. Tensions escalated between students of Obrachire SHTS and SWESBUS, resulting in a physical confrontation in which the Obrachire student was attacked and stoned. Following the viral spread of the video, CID Director-General COP Lydia Yaako Donkor engaged school authorities, leading to the swift arrest of the suspects on February 23, 2026. GES Response The Ghana Education Service (GES) Central Regional Directorate has suspended all zonal inter-school sporting activities in the region pending investigations.
