Creating identity emedded on Blockchain Today we are living in a digital era, everything is going online. Schools businesses and even government processes have gone online. Today data is now more costlier than gold, hence people prefer to mine data instead of gold. So if data is so important today, how do we ensure its authenticity? As we know data in the current system stay on a centralized server in the form of databases blockchain has come up in a big way to ensure data is immutable distributed auditable and encrypted in case of private permission network. With blockchain it seems we have solved one part of the problem that is now we know that data is authentic however we are still left with biggest problem - The identity problem! Lack of certainty of who is on the other end of the system is it the same person who is intended to be? Is it the person signing the contract authentic? Is it the student who is giving an exam authentic or a job seeker is providing authentic credentials to prove his capabilities. User ids and password are fraught with problems data breaches occur often that result in our identities and password being exposed and used either by hackers or anyone who buys them we often use the same passwords on many sites and if the password gets exposed on one side other accounts are exposed as well Even in real world we have multiple identity just to prove that it's you your licenses your tax card office id your health card and many more they all just represent an identity card to prove that you are the authentic person But do we need so many identities just to prove that it's you if somehow we are able to prove your identity digitally you can easily associate these attributes and just use one identity for all of them you may even associate your academic credentials your portal card your age proof residential address and many more So can we add our identity to the blockchain to make it trusted? Yes! this is the problem that Hyperledger blockchain is here to solve. It started as an indie project under Hyperledger foundation which now has been better organized under multiple layers of hyperledger and divided into parts like hyperledger Indy, ursa and Aries. We will learn each of these projects layer by layer to bring trust to the digital world once we are able to establish a digital identity we can start to associate different personal identification information attributes to it, like this person is a male or above 18 years of age this might be a primary requirement for some driving license, filing taxes, and registration to some websites With digital identity you can associate that person has completed his graduation in specific stream and same with the distinction grade attributes like gender age academic achievements of seniority get stored along with the identity into the blockchain to your mobile wallet and which can be easily reproduced to the authorities when requested this is called verifiable claims!
