AOR, a term that was born in the early 70s as a radio format that consisted of programming Rock songs that were easy to access, but now consolidated as a genre in itself, many people call it Adult Oriented Rock for its mature lyrical and musical context, other ones call it Album Oriented Rock for the type of commercial radio format referring to its beginnings. Later it would even contain various subgenres, including Melodic Hard Rock, West Coast, also known as Yacht Rock, Hi Tech, Pomp, Lite, etc. As a sound, it could be said that it is a direct descendant of Soft Rock, with influences from Soul and R&B, lead by the predominant keyboard and vocals. From the seventies sound of the West Coast to the eighties sound of Melodic Hard Rock, here it is a Top with 30 bands that they are my favorites at the time... AOR, un termino que nació a principios de los 70s como un formato radial que consistía en la programación de canciones de Rock de fácil acceso y comercialización, pero ahora ya consolidado como un genero en sí, muchos lo llaman Adult Oriented Rock (Rock Orientado a Adultos) por su contexto lírico y musical maduro, otros lo llaman Album Oriented Rock (Rock Orientado al Album) por el tipo de formato radial comercial haciendo referencia a sus inicios. Mas adelante contendría incluso diversos subgeneros, entre ellos Melodic Hard Rock, West Coast, también conocido como Yacht Rock, Hi Tech, Pomp, Lite etc,. Como sonido podría decirse que es un descendiente directo del Soft Rock, con influencias del Soul y el R & B, con potentes teclados y voces como característica fundamental.
