“Nagumomu Ganaleni” is a deeply moving Carnatic kṛti composed by Saint Tyagaraja in Raga Abheri and set to Adi Tala. In this composition, Tyagaraja pours out heartfelt sorrow and longing, lamenting the absence of Lord Rama’s compassionate smile (nagumomu). The kṛti expresses the devotee’s pain of separation and his intense yearning for divine grace, making it one of the most emotionally powerful and frequently rendered works in Carnatic Classical Music. Devotees of Kalyan Navratri from across the globe expressed a strong desire to witness the Bomma Kolu in its full aesthetic splendour, inspiring the conception of this Musical.
