Lucy Calderon (she/her) is a dynamic leader and advocate from Louisville, KY, who, at the age of 24, is making a profound impact as the Program Director of Louisville Girls Leadership. This nonprofit is dedicated to removing barriers to leadership opportunities and empowering young girls to discover their own power. With a global perspective, Lucy has lived all over the world and worked on U.S. Senate campaigns, further fueling her passion for political activism, social justice, and human rights. Inspired by her experiences growing up as a Jewish woman in Kentucky, Lucy channels her compassion into advocating for underserved communities, particularly focusing on youth, gender equity, and reproductive justice. Since the age of 15, she has been a tireless advocate for empowering young people to become leaders in their communities. Through mentorship, social justice advocacy, and access to critical resources like menstrual products and college prep training, Lucy ensures that every girl, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive. Research underscores that one of the key ways to closing the gender equity gap is by providing opportunities for teen girls, and Lucy's work is directly addressing this need. Under her leadership, Louisville Girls Leadership has supported over 60 high school girls annually, providing them with the tools, mentorship, and resources to succeed. Lucy's work has transformed the lives of countless young women, removing financial barriers and creating pathways to leadership, while helping shape the next generation of female leaders who will go on to make lasting impacts in their communities.
