The Aimpoint M68 Close Combat Optic (CCO) is a great red-dot reflex sight but BE CAREFUL TO TURN IT OFF SO YOU DON'T KILL ITS DL123 LITHIUM BATTERY! These are expensive batteries and you already have a plethora of batteries to keep charged to power your myriad of devices. One way to insure the CCO is off is by painting some marks on its on/off knob so there's no doubt as to its condition: • Field eXpedients: M68 Close Combat Optic O... There are even rechargeable Lithium-Ion (Li-ion "Lion") DL123 batteries available now! FYI, I was the USMC officer who lead that stodgy, known distance (KD) range outfit into 21st century reflex and night shooting by researching the U.S. Army Special Forces Son Tay POW camp rescue mission which used Swedish Aimpoiint sights: http://www.combatreform.org/sontay.htm ...and then doing a "market survey" to find the best, red-dot collimator sight available commercially, off-the-shelf (COTS)--that even the cheapskate marines could afford: http://www.combatreform.org/nightvisi... I prefer the Trijicon red-dot sights like OEG and ACOG because they are tritium, radioactive element powered and don't need batteries and my eyes have binocular vision. However, some Soldiers don't have the ability to shoot with both eyes open so it makes sense that the U.S. Army chose the see-through Aimpoint to be their M68 CCO; though the ACOG is also see-through. The battery power also can be adjusted to make the red dot very bright for those who don't have perfect 20-20 vision. Another aspect that's great about the Aimpoint M68 CCO is that you can not have your eyes perfectly aligned behind the sight and have the red-dot on your target, fire and hit it (ASS U Ming your weapon is zeroed to the sight) and that you can wear Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) or place an image intensifier device behind it and get night reflex firing capabilities.
