www.HistoryInYourOwnBackyard.com info@HistoryInYourOwnBackyard.com 812-623-5727 Oldenburg is a small German village located in Franklin County, Indiana. There are so many stories to tell about this burg but today we'll just cover some of the more interesting legends that you probably didn't know about. For example, some of Morgan's Raiders visited Oldenburg in 1863 to have their horses shoed but never paid for the service. Another great story is about the "Hoogle House" built in 1845 which was a tavern and an inn when first built. The stone house has a bowed wall which is very visible from the outside. Rumor has it that when the stone masons were building the home, they may have over indulged in the stock of wine the home owner had made for them and didn't realize the one wall wasn't straight until after it was erected! There's another story about a drunk carpenter sitting on top of a cross of the local church steeple but you'll have to watch the video for that one. GPS Location: 39°20'21.2"N 85°12'08.3"W
