Hope Behind Bars is the Sarkeys and TEEM initiative that provides the women at the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center access to higher education. Listen to the life stories of scholarship recipients and understand the impact Hope Behind Bars has on individuals and the environment. Hope Behind Bars is changing the attitude of the scholarship recipients, the correctional facility, and Oklahoma. Giving people the tools they need to succeed is a core value of restoration. Research has shown that justice-involved women who have 2 college classes worth of education do not recidivise. Higher education could mean the difference between being successful or returning to a correctional facility. Donations and volunteering make programs like MBCC's Hope Behind Bars possible.
