Sen. Cheryl Kagan Opposes Confirmation of Linda Lamone (March 14, 2025)

For more than 25 years, Linda Lamone served as Maryland's State Administrator of Elections. During her tenure, I identified and struggled with a series of challenges, missteps, and flawed projects. Among others, Lamone insisted in procuring touch-screen voting machines with no paper trail-- despite the counsel of experts. Ultimately, we had to jettison these worthless machines... at a cost of more than $100,000,000 in taxpayer money. In 2023, I had to sponsor legislation to force her to retire. It passed the General Assembly nearly unanimously and was signed into law by Governor Wes Moore. Recently, she was nominated to serve on the Judicial Disabilities Commission. I spoke against her confirmation on the Senate floor and prevailed with a vote of 20 in favor and 25 opposed. You can watch my comments here. #MDGA2025
