Malcolm Wicks is a twenty-one year old performing and spoken word artist raised in upper westside Harlem, NY who currently resides in Brooklyn. Malcolm was one of the six poets representing New York City last year on the 2012 Urban Word NYC Poetry SlamTeam. He attended an International Poetry Festival called Brave New Voices (Seen on Russell Simmons and Stan Lathans HBO documentary) held in San Francisco, California. He is currently one of the five poets on the 2013 Nuyorican Poets Café slam team. This past summer, they attended the National Poetry Slam (NPS) which took place in Boston, Massachusetts and placed 3rd in the entire Nation. He recently opened up for Buddy Wakefield in SoHo at the show "A Close Encounter With Bendy People" presented by flavorpill. He has graced many stages in and outside of New York including the Worlds Famous Apollo Theatre, Barclays Center and BAM. Malcolm is the definition of a passionate artist and hopes to share his work with the world while becoming a better being in the universe. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
