Scrum Master is typically working behind the scenes and is not involved in product ideation or strategy. The scrum master role was created as part of the Scrum framework. The name was initially intended to indicate someone who is an expert at Scrum and can therefore coach others. They work more as a conduit between product/line-of-business owners and development teams as a project manager. A Scrum Master maintains a high-level view of the project , helping teams to understand both organizational and technical dependencies while avoiding chokepoints. This creates a culture of accountability and enables teams to meet critical deadlines. The scrum master is the team role responsible for ensuring the team lives agile values and principles and follows the processes and practices that the team agreed they would use. The role does not generally have any actual authority. People filling this role have to lead from a position of influence, often taking a servant-leadership stance. Agile is a methodology which helps continuous iteration of development of solutions process which that helps teams to deliver value to their customers faster and with fewer issues. Solution can be a software, service or tangible product which is being designed and released to customers. Instead of betting everything on a large release, an agile team delivers work in small increments. In Agile methodology, development and testing activities are concurrent, unlike in other software development methodologies. Agile also encourages teamwork and face-to-face collaboration and communication. Business, stakeholders, and developers and clients must work together to develop a product. Requirements, plans, and results are evaluated continuously so teams have a natural mechanism for responding to change quickly.
