This is The Weather Channel's extended coverage of the Easter 2020 Severe Weather Outbreak, broadcast on April 12 from 12 PM through 4 AM CT the next morning when AMHQ began. The Easter 2020 outbreak was a series of severe storms and tornadoes that affected the Southeastern US on Sunday, April 12, and Monday, April 13, 2020. This event produced 120+ confirmed tornadoes, with the highest being rated an EF4 with preliminary winds of 190 mph in Bassfield, MS. These tornadoes caused the issuance of several tornado emergencies, including the first tornado emergency ever to be issued by the Charleston, SC National Weather Service office. Fifteen total watches were issued during this event, including two PDS Tornado Watches. Officially, 38 fatalities have been reported, and over 1.3 million customers lost power.
