There are multiple types so I’m going to quickly cover each one of them and the first one is the forehead melanosis of forehead pigmentation in Indians we generally notice this very commonly. The other thing that we notice around periorbital is when it comes laterally here and that is a genetic thing these are lines of demarcation which are genetically made and they will be hyperpigmented and we cannot treat this. But yes we can lighten it by using a sunscreen regularly. The next pigmentation we notice is the melasma or it's called the mask of pregnancy Commonly seen when there are hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy or menopause it starts with the cheeks and the nose and then sometimes moves to the forehead and the chin again melasma because it has a hormonal base we cannot treat it but we can lighten it by using the right creams sometimes even procedures but remember that you need to use a sunscreen especially a tinted sunscreen that contains iron oxide which gives you added protection even from sunlight. The next melanosis that we see is very oral that is around the lips this generally is due to allergies of all the things that we use for our lips and teeth common as being the toothpaste. So when we brush our teeth and the foam tends to come out is when the pigmentation can occur because you're allergic to the particular ingredient in the toothpaste similarly it could be due to your lipstick it could be due to lip smacking or smoking There are other kinds of pigmentations like reels melanosis which is due to a use of makeup that you're allergic to so if you use your foundations and your blushes regularly and they do not suit your skin it can lead to pigmentation. One other type of pigmentation we notice is called burlocks which is because of the perfumes that we use Nowadays we have skin products also containing a lot of fragrances and perfumes or the perfumes that we use on our body these can be allergenic the fragrances can be allergenic to our skin and can lead to subsequent pigmentations. Last but not the least is diseases especially hormonal imbalances in our body like Thyroid or Addison’s disease can also lead to pigmentation.
