Excelling at many aspects in class his head never truly left the clouds as only 20 years later he would become the Navy’s first African American aviator. Fast forward 64 years after his death and Adam Mackos will release a book called Devotion to honor his memory. Another quick 8 year jump and we get the 2022 movie Devotion based on the book. Now, after 70 years Jess L. Brown is resurrected on screen for one of the most accurate to life biographies seen to date. But even with the respect and reverence the movie holds for the passed hero it still takes its liberties in order to tell a cohesive narrative.
