(2 Mar 2026) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: ASSOCIATED PRESS Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 2 March 2026 1. SOUNDBITE (English) Jon Gambrell, The Associated Press: “The United States military says that Kuwait has accidentally shot down three American fighter jets in that tiny country as they were engaged against Iran in open air-to-air combat. This shows just how chaotic the wider situation has gotten in the Middle East just days after the American Israeli campaign against Iran started. Now this attack in Kuwait saw the Iranians actually fly fighter jets themselves into that country alongside drones and missile fire and the Kuwaiti's mistakenly thought the American fighter jets were enemy aircraft. That's according to U.S. Military Central Command that says all the pilots on board safely bailed out and are now receiving medical care." ASSOCIATED PRESS Kuwait City, Kuwait - 28 February 2026 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Jon Gambrell, The Associated Press: "But Iran has widened its list of targets as following. They today attacked refineries in both Kuwait and in Qatar and in Saudi Arabia, including its Ras Tanura facility, which can process half a million barrels of crude oil a day. And this is starting to become a worry for analysts who say that global oil prices could spike even higher if the flow of oil is disrupted out of this crucial region. Already, we have seen attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, that's the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf, through which about a fifth of all oil traded passes, and the Omanis today said that another ship came under attack off their coast by a drone boat which carried explosives. That boat exploded sparking a fire on board that vessel and killed one of the sailors who was an Indian on board.” ASSOCIATED PRESS Doha, Qatar - 28 February 2026 ++NIGHT SHOTS++ 4. Various of missiles being intercepted seen in sky from view between apartment buildings STORYLINE: The U.S. military said on Monday that Kuwait “mistakenly shot down” three American F-15E Strike Eagles during a combat mission as Iran attacked the country. The U.S. military’s Central Command said the combat included attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles and drones -- the first time Iran’s aging combat fleet has been engaged in the war. “The U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses,” it said. “All six aircrew ejected safely, have been safely recovered, and are in stable condition. Kuwait has acknowledged this incident, and we are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti defense forces and their support in this ongoing operation.” Iran and Iranian-backed militias fired missiles at Israel and Arab states, apparently hitting the U.S. Embassy compound in Kuwait, while Israel and the United States pounded targets in Iran as the war expanded on Monday with statements of defiance and increasing casualties. At least 555 people have been killed in Iran so far by the U.S.-Israeli campaign, the Iranian Red Crescent Society said, and more than 130 cities across the country having come under attack. Eleven people have been killed in Israel and 31 in Lebanon, according to authorities there. World markets were rattled by the fighting and oil prices soared. Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura oil refinery came under a drone attack on Monday, with defenses downing the incoming aircraft, a military spokesman told the state-run Saudi Press Agency.
