OUTSIDER ART FAIR 2020 NEW YORK

James Kalm has been visiting the Outsider Art Fair since it debuted in the mid 1990s at SoHo’s Puck Building. The mélange of the exotic, the mysterious, the unknown, and the visionary is too delicious to deny. So every year, your correspondent makes a pilgrimage back, and strolls the aisles of this far trolling the numerous booths for new discoveries, and old friends. This year, is unusual because there seems to be a building momentum to accept those “outside” into the “inside” (at least within the cultural institutions)…Some interesting artists (new to this reviewer) to look for this turn are: Kwame Akoto, at Winter Works on Paper Gallery, Morris Ben Newman at Lindsay Gallery, and Gera at Galerie Anne de Villepoix.
