It usually takes place in • Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi •Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali •Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling. Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports, Phalgam . The aim of mountaineering expeditions in NCC is to strengthen the character and instil qualities of courage, comradeship, discipline and leadership in the cadets. NCC has always been in the forefront in adventure activities. The first mountaineering course for NCC Cadets was conducted for 42 days at Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling in 1961. Every year, NCC sponsors 354 boy and girl cadets for basic mountaineering courses. The Camp also carries a bit of risk but its a life time experience. The actual fees is somewhere between 15k to 20k but The Government of India (Ministry of Defence) is paying your fees. So your work is just to attend the camp. Go to your Unit, tell that you’re interested in this Course to your SM and JCO-i/c-Trg. If he’s convinced he’ll call you once the vacancies come. The Selection of this Camp is completely based on Physical Fitness and Mental Strength. so, if you are physically and mentally fit then you can enroll for this course . Notification for this Camp usually come in month of February and March. So, stay connected with your battalion if want to do this camp .
