Video tutorial for making the Pebble Stitch Washcloth. This is a very pretty stitch and it works great for a project such as this cotton face washcloth. Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 0:53 Materials needed 2:00 Pattern and cast-on info 2:35 Bottom border 3:25 Row 1 4:01 Row 2 4:45 Row 3 5:36 Row 4 7:31 Rows 5-7 7:52 Row 8 8:43 Top border and cast off info 10:30 Outro Level: Intermediate or Adventurous Advanced Beginner Materials: Yarn: 1 skein (~1.9-2.0 oz or 55-60 g) of 4-ply 100% cotton yarn (1 skein makes 1 washcloth) Needles: US size 8 (5.0 mm) 10-inch regular knitting needle (could use US size 7 or 9 as well) Other: 2 stitch markers (optional), ruler or measuring tape, scissors, tapestry needle Gauge: 10 stitches in Pebble Stitch pattern with US 8 needles= 2.5 inches. Abbreviations: K = knit; K2Tog = knit 2 stitches together; P = purl; RS = right side; SM = stitch marker; WS = wrong side. Cast on 34 sts using a cast-on method of your choice (long-tail cast on works well). Then, knit 4 rows of garter stitch (knit all stitches); in last row of garter stitch, place a SM after the first 2 sts and before the last 2 sts (this is to mark the garter stitch border on the side). Then, knit as follows: Row 1 (RS): K all sts (when you reach the SMs, simply slip it over). Row 2 (WS): K2, slip SM, P to last 2 sts, slip SM, then K2. Row 3: K2, slip SM, K2Tog to the last 2 sts, slip SM, then K2. (Note: stitch count will be lower after Row 3 and Row 7 but it will get back to normal after completing Row 4 and Row 8, respectively) Row 4: K2, slip SM, *make 1 st by knitting in the horizontal bar before the next st, K1. Repeat from * to the last 2 st. Then slip SM, then K2. Row 5: Same as Row 1. Row 6: Same as Row 2. Row 7: Same as Row 3. Row 8: K2, slip SM, *K1, make 1 st by knitting in the horizontal bar before the next st. Repeat from * to the last 2 st. Then slip SM, then K2. Repeat Rows 1-8 for a total of 7 pattern repeats (or until work measures approximately 7.5 inches). Then do Rows 1 and 2 one more time. Then do 4 rows where you purl all the stitches. Then cast off the stitches (using regular cast off method or any cast off method of your choice). Weave in the yarn tails using a tapestry needle (or a crochet hook, if you prefer). Your washcloth is ready for use. Finished Washcloth measurements: approx. 8 x 8 inch square Additional helpful links: Long-tail cast on: • How to do long tail cast on: Knittycat's K...
