Do you ever see or hear of street furniture that is DDA complaint, but not exactly sure what it means? This video runs through a simple explanation of what makes a seat comply with DDA requirements. DDA is an acronym for the Disability Discrimination Act. To start, a seat must have an arm rest and a backrest with a maximum angle of 105 degrees. The backrest height off the ground needs to be within 750 to 790mm, and the height of the armersts, off the seat to be 220 to 300mm. Lastly, the seat height from the ground is to be within the range of 450 to 520mm. We have take the guess work out of determining which of out Australian made items are DDA compliant. Any of out furniture pieces that are compliant with these dimensions simply state it in their product name.
