P&O Britannia cruise to the Mediterranean August-2025. Mallorca.

Our second port & our first visit to the holiday island of Mallorca. Another P&O excursion today, this one a unique opportunity to visit the sports academy of tennis megastar Rafa Nadal at Manacor. We had watched him play 3 times in the past, so this was a trip we were very much looking forward to. It didn’t disappoint. The museum was fantastic; lots of interactive games, packed full of tennis and other sports memorabilia. After the museum, a very interesting, guided tour of the facility. We didn’t spot Rafa himself (although he’s regularly onsite), the academy’s back story is very heart-warming; Rafa giving back to the community where he was brought up. At the end of the visit ended we were treated to a free drink of our choice; a cold beer went down extremely well! This is an absolute must see for all tennis fans & certainly fans of Rafa. So pleased we did this excursion! Returning to Palma de Mallorca, we took a stroll around the streets near the cathedral. This area is certainly very picturesque. Of note is Olivera de Cort, a 600-year-old olive tree, which apparently is seen as a symbol of peace – it’s certainly very gnarled & aged. We were informed to beware of pickpockets near the Cathedral. Also prevalent were street “vendors”, who all seemed to magically disappear with the arrival of a Police car! An evening sail away, we sat on our balcony watching the cathedral gradually fade into the distance. Mallorca is certainly a lovely island.
