Ann Frederick initially created the Stretch to Win® Method for athletes when she was a graduate assistant in the athletic department of ASU (Arizona State University) from 1995-1997. While working with the wrestling team, word got to the Olympic Mens’ Wrestling team about “The Stretch Lady” and her spectacular results with athletes’ mobility and recovery. She was hired as the first stretch therapy specialist in the history of the Olympics and the team earned a total of 8 medals (more than any other team), 3 of them gold. While she evolved her technique by working countless hours on athletes from a large and diverse body of sports, she spent the most time working with ASU’s football team, the Sun Devils. In 1997, after a full season using her developed Method, the team started at the Rose Bowl against Ohio State in unusually great shape – injuries were down 45%. According to the coach’s statistics, Ann was the unique element that greatly aided them in getting to the Bowl. Despite the Sun Devil loss of one touchdown, Ann had earned quite a respectable reputation that spread locally in Arizona due to media coverage and word of mouth. She started the first stretch therapy clinic in Tempe in 1995 and in 3 years the majority of her clients were professional athletes and Olympic medalists and contenders. So at the 2018 NFL Hall of Fame Enshrinement on August 4, 2018 in Canton, Ohio, it was a particularly sweet moment for her to see that 4 out of 7 player inductees all experienced her technique and method now known as Fascial Stretch Therapy™ (or FST™). Brian Dawkins, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens all initially had FST from Ann. Ray Lewis had regular sessions of FST from Barbara Depta a Level 3 graduate from our training center, the Stretch to Win Institute, during his last 2 seasons with the Ravens. Emotions overwhelm Ann in this video, when she recounts this very special moment in time, especially that with Brian Dawkins, retired safety with the Philadelphia Eagles. Enjoy and be inspired!
